And in this corner “Cuil.com”?
In this corner leading the market with most user queries and sporting its classic multiple colors “GOOGLE”! Now in this Corner, boasting to do great and wonderful things for the future, and to be the only search engine to beat out Google, its “Yahoo!” um no, its “MSN”, wait that isn’t it either. Google, Yahoo, and MSN well who else is there? Oh yeah “cuil.com”, pronounced COOL.
Sunday, a startup company led by former Google engineers, unveiled a new search engine that’s mission is to out-do that of Google in search size. Cuil Inc. have unleashed a search engine that they claim can index more content, faster than that of the search giant Google, and can do it more cheaply.
“The would-be Google rival says its service goes beyond prevailing search techniques that focus on Web links and audience traffic patterns and instead analyzes the context of each page and the concepts behind each user search request.
“Our significant breakthroughs in search technology have enabled us to index much more of the Internet, placing nearly the entire Web at the fingertips of every user,” Tom Costello, Cuil co-founder and chief executive, said in a statement.” Says news.yahoo.com they go on to tell you whom these founders are. “Cuil was founded by a group of search pioneers, including Costello, who built a prototype of Web Fountain, IBM’s Web search analytics tool, and his wife, Anna Patterson, the architect of Google Inc’s massive TeraGoogle index of Web pages. Patterson also designed the search system for global corporate document storage company Recall, a unit of Australia’s Brambles Ltd”
With that said Google may actually have a reason to fix yo yoing its search result pages. People already wish there was another better search engine ranking system then Google, and it may already be here in the guise of “cuil.com”. The word of this new search engine has bogged the new system down today to a hault as we have seen this page, saying
“We’ll be back soon…
Cuil.com wants to break the mold with this new search engine and they just may be able to do it. With Google focusing its interest on a number of different projects such as adwords with Yahoo, Google maps, youtube.com, Google Earth, and all it’s numerous tools and many other things, it does feel as if they have been slacking on their search quality.
With a smaller company like Cuil.com focusing all their energy on being the best in search, we finally have a chance at possibly having a search engine that gives users what they really want: relevant quality sites that the user expects to find when doing any given search. Let’s keep our eyes open and hope that this makes all search engines step up and play their A game.
