Breaking the SEO Myths

Interestingly, no matter how hard people try to educate other users on SEO, there are certain myths that wouldn’t just go away. Most of these myths are created from some sort of wishful thinking like when doing something - for instance, getting a lot of backlinks - will get you a high score in search engines. These are stuff that are always perpetuated even when they aren’t true. The actual fact is that SEO doesn’t have shortcuts. There is no one solution that will ensure that your website is going to get that top post in SERPs.

SEO is as real as it gets

There are certain SEO companies who are not too keen on actively discussing how exactly they can produce quality results to their clients. They claim that the process is either way too complicated or its something that they have designed and only they can do. Truth be told, actual SEO is not just a bag of tricks that are supposed to fool search engines so your site gets on top of their pages.

Another myth that you should watch out for is that SEO can ensure a top rank in the SERPs which will then benefit your business. Companies who approach SEO in this manner could be doing more harm than good to your company given the shady tactics that they practice.

There are even companies who will get you to use keywords that are not popularly targeted. Naturally, your website will get on top of the SERPs that way. But while it does have its advantages, it also has some downsides. There’s no point in working on keywords that searchers do not even use, is there?

There’s more to just links and keywords

Sure, SEO uses links and keywords to get sites on decent search engine placements. But one shouldn’t rely so much on them that the way they are inserted or built becomes something quite so irrational. Using link farms, for instance, will not get you the results that you want. It’s best to start working on relevant backlinks instead of automatically generated ones because the latter can only get you booted out of a search engine’s good graces.

Stuffing your pages with keywords wouldn’t do the trick either. Going beyond a threshold for keyword density can only translate to that page being spam so instead of getting the top placement, you’ll probably find yourself at the bottom instead.
